PETER POWELL ROBERTS

Florida Master Artist

Peter Powell Roberts is an acclaimed Florida Master Artist who was an instructor at the Ringling College of Art in Sarasota Florida for 23 years, and a department head. He also founded the Design and Computer Graphics Departments at the college.

Peter Powell Roberts and his work went missingin 2010 after his wife, of some 45 years, died.  He was found in 2012 when Heartland Cultural Alliance President, Fred Leavitt and his therapy dog, Sheba, visited a nursing facility in Sebring Florida.  A body 136 pieces of Mr. Roberts original oil on wood paintings and eight sculptures were later found in a storage shed.

Peter Powell Roberts’s art celebrates the Central Florida environment by rendering its minutia in a unique way. His work is renowned for depicting Florida nature in compositions that reflect the abstract.

Mr. Roberts, a Highlands County resident, has willed his body of work (most of which has never been seen before) to Heartland Cultural Alliance.  Highlands County is now home to the largest collection of Peter Powell Roberts art in the world.

HCA is creating a museum dedicated to the preservation of his work. Four pieces of his original art*, signed limited edition (20) archival books, and a collection of limited edition prints will be available for purchase toward that end*.
